Woven Wonder: Adidas Unveils Samba Primeknit Boot

Posted on February 27, 2014

This isn't your grandmother's knitting--that's for sure.

After releasing a teasing trailer yesterday, Adidas made its Primeknit boot official with today's unveiling. The sportswear giant is touting its new model as one of the market's best-fitting cleats thanks to the woven upper, which consists of durable yarn with a water-proof coating. Aside from the innovative materials, the outsole comes directly from the Samba F50.

With Nike set to unveil its own knitted technology, dubbed FlyKnit, in its new Magista silo, Adidas' Primeknit will surely stir the competition between the world's two foremost boot-makers. The Samba Primeknit will be released to the public on Mar. 17 while notable players, including Liverpool's Luis Suarez, will feature the cleats in coming weeks.

So, is yarn the next big thing? Either way, check out the rest of Adidas' product line within our online store. We'll also update you as to the potential availability of the Primeknit.
